11.21.08 / by The band: Stay tuned for a significantly awesome HOLIDAY SALE! |
02.11.08 / by the band: Picnic haters- Sorry it's taken so long for us to post some updates. Gina is now happily married and we wish her the best! That of course means we are Ginaless now. But that does NOT mean that we have stopped rockin'. We're still alive and well for now...just trying to re-coup and get organized. We're entering a new phase in the history of our band, and yeah there's some uncertainty surrounding it. But, in no uncertain terms, Matt, Andy, and Dan are still eager to keep rock alive and we hope to be back on the scene in one form or another soon! xoxoxoxoxOOOxxx |

02.11.08 / by webmaster: We've been hacked! I feel honored. This is the first Web site I've had hacked. It holds a special place in my heart. We're back online now, and, pending approval from the band, I'm considering redesigning the site to streamline it. Remember, kids, always sanitize your inputs! |
12.18.07 / by Matt: Thanks to everyone who came out to Gina's final shows! They were lots of fun. Have a rockin' Christmas. |
11.15.07 / by The soon-to-be 100% male No Picnic: Well, everyone, we have some bittersweet news. You all may know by now that Gina is getting married at the end of December, which is AWESOME, but sadly this means that she won’t be able to continue rockin’ out with No Picnic. She and her future brand new husband will be living near Seattle, WA. That is very far away. Man, we’re going to miss Gina. So, with our hearts sinking low, yet with our rock fists held high, here are the last two shows Gina will be playing with us (they’re both free!!): Friday, November 30th Michael’s Pub in Columbia (21 and up) and Wednesday, December 5th Fish Head Cantina in Arbutus (ALL AGES; also appearing will be Albatross) For more info, click on SHOWS Not only will you hear some of Gina’s favorites, but you may also hear a new song and a holiday song or two. So come on out, congratulate Gina, and enjoy a last show with No Picnic before we are Ginaless. We wish Gina all the best and assure you that you can expect more rock from No Picnic in the future. |

02.08.07 / by the band: Thanks to everyone who came out to see us open for Jimmie's Chicken Shack. That show was awesome. We had so much fun. Our next show is 2/20/07, an acousticish low-volume performance at the Central Branch of the Howard County Library (near the Columbia Mall). It's a free show, and space is quite limited (I think to like 100 people), so it'll be really great. Come out and see us do something a little different! We're busy trying to book some new "real" shows, and will keep you up to date on that. If you're one of the 12,304 people who haven't gotten your hands on The Wilderness Looks So Inviting, you really should. 12 bucks for 13 songs. Nearly an hour of face-melting awesomenicity. Check out out merch page for more details! Peace out. |

08.18.06 / by the Band: A lot of you are wondering what's been going on since we finished recording. Well, we just got a rough copy of the CD from Nathan, and it sounds awesome. A lot of mixing and editing needs to be done though. Be patient! It's coming! |
07.14.06 / by the band: We have good news. You might want to sit down for this: WE ARE DONE RECORDING OUR ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!1 That's right. Down to the last note. So, now we play the waiting game while Nathan (our producer) mixes and edits everything to make us sound good. But seriously. Thanks to everyone who has been coming to our shows lately and supporting us. You will be thoroughly pleased with The Wilderness Looks So Inviting. It's got everything. Riffs, licks, chugga-wuggas, bliggity-bloughs, deedlededeedles, claps, slaps...it is truly an audible feast of rock. While Nathan does his thing, the band will be hard at work with album art. ROCK ON! \m/ |
07.07.06 / by the band: NEW SHOWS ADDED! COME SEE US PLAY! LOUD NOISES!!!!!!!!!!!! |
06.25.06 / by the band: Yesterday, we NEARLY FINISHED recording. We have so little left that we can tell you exactly what needs to be done: - 1 bass part - 2 guitar parts - 1 background vocal part - 1 scream - hand claps - 3 or 4 piano parts Which we can probably go in a few hours. We also settled on the album title: The Wilderness Looks So Inviting If we were to give an estimated date of completion, we would say August 31st. |
05.29.06 / by the band: Lead vocals are DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay tuned! We die a little bit for every day the album does not come out. |
05.14.06 / by the band: Well, we're probably 90% finished with the album. This past weekend, Gina finished recording ALL the bass. Seriously...you have NO idea how good the record sounds so far. We'll finish up recording the vocals, and then get it all mixed, and then start thinking about album art and stuff like that. These are exciting times for rockdom. |
04.30.06 / by the band: Good news! We are DONE recording ALL the guitar for our forthcoming album. Tentatively titled "The Wilderness Looks So Inviting," the confirmed tracklist is as follows: Only The Meteors Roses Outside The Cemetery Gates 100% My Pleasure Handful Of Snakes Have I Failed The Test? The Egypt I Made For Myself Last Year's Girlfriend Turns Into A Run (Away From Me) Goodbye Who Will Weep? I See God This list does not reflect the final order that the songs will be in. But, we're excited! |
04.19.06 / by the band: Come see us play @ UMBC on Friday! More info on the SHOWS page! We haven't been recording the past few weeks due to technical difficulties, but starting tonight we'll be making up for lost time! Stay tuned for more information about the upcoming album including a final track listing and lyrics! |
04.03.06 / by the band: To all who lost their faces at the Recher show, we apologize profoundly. Face-loss is one of the most common side effects of No Picnic's music. We found a few lying on the floor and will be mailing them back to who we think they belong to. Seriously though...thanks for coming out to see us if you came. We feel loved. And holy cow...you guys were like...signing along with us. We are truly flattered and honored to have fans like you. Now that that's out of the way, we're going to get back to recording our album. You might be pleased to know that we are DONE recording all the guitar for it. More info soon! Peace out. \m/ |
03.22.06 / by The Band: We are getting ever closer to finishing recording our album. Guitar is ALMOST done. After that, we'll record the bass, vocals, choir, organ, and fiddle. Also, if you have RSVPed regarding the Recher Show, PLEASE consider buying tickets in advance. This is for the simple reason that we actually need to PAY them to allow us to play there, and we have like NO money. |
03.03.06 / by Dan: Check out the SHOWS page, cuz there's something there! |
02.27.06 / by Damon: March 18 to March 27: The website will be kind of shaky around that time. It might go offline...in which case, I'll put up a temporary one. But, I go on spring break then, so I have to turn off my computer... so yeah... |
02.18.06 / by Dan: Recording is coming along. Maaaaaaaaaaybe it will take 2 more months to finish. Maybe a little longer than that. Actually, yeah, a little longer than that. But to give you an idea of how awesome this cd is going to be, when we started playing guitar today, when the first chord was stricken, an old lantern that was sitting comfortably on a shelf got knocked (no joke) from its place of rest and smashed on the ground into about a hundred shards of glass. So...yeah. It's gonna rock pretty fearsome. |
02.12.06 / by Dan: So, we were planning on recording this weekend, but got hit by that crazy Noreaster. Therefore, we could not record. However, something awesome has happened: I MADE AN IGLOO. Yes, my brother Chris and I spent about 5 hours today working on it. The results can be seen here. Enjoy the snow everybody! |
02.10.06 / by The Bizzle: The Merch store is finally open and ready for business! Now you can FINALLY buy all that sweet No Picnic gear you've wanted since forever. Right now, you can only pay through PayPal (you don't need a PayPal account to buy through PayPal, just a valid credit card), but in the nearest of futures, we will have an order form you can print out if you don't trust the internet and would rather send us a check. |
02.01.06 / by Webmast0r: Stay tuned for a new MERCH page. We'll be selling flippin' awesome t-shirts, stickers, and buttons. And eventually, OUR NEW ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The MERCH page is done, but pending approval of the Board of Trustees. |
01.21.06 / by Dan: If Nathan is correct in his estimation that recording the drums is half of the entire process of recording OUR ALBUMMMMMMMMMMMM then I think it's safe to say that we are HALFWAY DONE WITH OUR ALBUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!! \m/ |
01.19.06 / by George Smith: WE SHOULD BE PRACTICING NOW!!! INSTEAD WE'RE LOOKING AT OUR BONE-SHREDDING WEBSITE AND HOW AWESOME IT IS!!!!! |
